okay wow, so I’m still getting messages from non black women on sources from why I wrote that this symbol
is for black women only. what a surprise non-black women continue to distrust black women’s contribution to feminism and our knowledge of our own community. Black women know our own history and if you can’t trust that then you don’t trust us.
this is a picture of a member of the Third World Women’s Alliance, an alliance that goes back from the 1968 Black Women’s Caucus.
her sign reads “we represent black & third world womens, the most exploited & oppressed in the human race. third world women’s alliance” her sign also features the symbol for black feminism.
this group used two primary symbol to represent black women’s pride and solidarity for other WOC, the first was a power fist inside the symbol for womanhood. And another with a fist clenching a gun inside the symbol for womanhood picture here :
and guess who was a founding member of the Third World Women’s Alliance? A Black women named Frances M Beal also known as Frances Beale.
The Third World Women’s Alliance isn’t the only black feminist group to use this symbol but it is one of the most documented.
calls for “sources” are almost always code for “I don’t trust you to know your own history unless it’s been verified by white people”
You know what’s crazy? How y’all can shun ‘colorless’ black celebrities within minutes and never speak of them again unless it’s to drag them but when a celebrity says something blatantly transmisogynistic y’all not only go on as if nothing ever happened but continue to support them through thick and thin?? Where are their call-outs? When do they get dragged on twitter for days? Or does it not matter when the black person getting shitted on is trans?
Ummmmm are you serious?
I’ve seen numerous tweets and posts addressing transmisogyny.
Amiyah King, Janet Mock, Laverne Cox have all been attacked and I see a plethora of people drag those who talk shit about them.
ESPECIALLY on Twitter. And what’s even more interesting is that a lot of the people who are calling people out are cisgendered women like myself.
I am fully aware of trans women being brushed aside, abused, murdered, sexually assaulted, etc. And I don’t expect anyone to congratulate me on shit I’m expected to do. I’m not saying that trans women don’t get treated like shit or are often not cared for. I’m saying that this is a very real and shitty reality that we have to deal with.
Black women, whether cis or trans, have always been expandable in our community. Let’s not act brand new here. Black twitter and tumblr have shit on all of us.
I know that my voice most likely doesn’t matter to you. I’m just tired of seeing posts like this. It dismisses those of us who are actually active and inclusive.
If you’re a “nice guy” to a girl up until you realize she doesn’t want to date you, then go on about how she’s a cold shrew that friendzoned you and how no girls date nice guys, like, nah mate, girls do date nice guys. You just aren’t a nice guy. You’re a passive aggressive beta with internalized misogyny and a serious victim complex.

Source: “What police face during protests" accuses protests of being more dangerous for the police than the protesters.
Peaceful protesters have been tear gassed, shot with rubber bullets, arrested, tackled, hog tied, maced, had guns pointed at them, and so much more. They really wanna try and compare pointing fingers, name calling, and cameras in their faces to everything protesters have faced PLUS the fact that Mike Brown’s killer, Darren Wilson is still free and still on paid administrative leave after 69 days?!?
When my grandma said “White people gonna knock the bottom outta hell” these are the folks she was talking about.
No this mothafucka did NOT just say this shit. I gotta go.
Sounds like they need another job. How about librarian?(via witchsistah)
White people are mad as hell about flights from Africa, hollering shit about bringing an incurable disease around an unsuspecting population
The entirety of world history is y’all killing people by bringing incurable diseases onto unsuspecting people
You’re only worried now because the unsuspecting people is you.
Anita Sarkeesian has shown up for speaking engagements amidst terror threats before. But after learning that Utah’s gun laws prevented Utah State University from restricting firearms at a Wednesday lecture over which she received a graphic death threat, the nationally-known feminist writer and video game critic cancelled her appearance. An email to Utah State University threatened “the deadliest school shooting in American history” if the school did not cancel a …
This is not criticism. This is terrorism, just like the bomb threat that was called into the venue where she was going to get an award.
This is what is hiding among your concerns about “journalistic ethics,” Gamergate.
I have no idea how or why anyone would threaten people’s lives for fucking video games.
